After cutting last year's Electric Zoo short following the death of two festival-goers, organizers are trying to bring the show back to New York City this year.
The New York Daily News says the promoters have hired a pair of high-powered lobbyists to help get Mayor Bill de Blasio on board and secure a parks department permit for the Randall's Island venue.
At last year's event, two college students died from overdosing on drugs. Along with other drug-related concert deaths around the same time, the incident led to an intense scrutiny of the EDM scene.
But while the New York Electric Zoo event is still up in the air, Electric Zoo Mexico is set to take place in Mexico City this May.
